Choose your Hard.

Life is full of things that are hard.
Going to the gym is hard. Not

being able to walk up a flight of stairs without getting out of breath is hard.
Eating well is hard. Not feeling happy or confident when you look in the mirror is hard.
Getting up early to train is hard. Feeling tired, sluggish and unfit every day is hard.
Saying no to the extra takeaway is hard. Feeling frustrated because you aren't making progress towards your goals is hard.
Going to bed instead of staying up scrolling is hard. Waking up exhausted every morning is hard.
Starting CrossFit when you're nervous is hard. Knowing you should be doing something about your health but continuing to put it off is hard.
Building strength is hard. Losing your strength and independence as you get older is hard.
Making time for yourself is hard. Realising years have passed and your health has slowly deteriorated is hard.
You Get to Choose Your Hard
Life is a series of choices.
Some of those choices feel difficult in the moment but make your life better in the long run. Others might feel easier right now but create problems further down the road.
That's the difficult part about health.
The consequences of your choices aren't always immediate.
Skipping one workout doesn't make you unfit. Eating one takeaway doesn't make you unhealthy. Going to bed late once isn't going to ruin your sleep.
But those choices repeated hundreds of times can eventually create a very different outcome.
The same is true in the other direction.
One workout won't transform your body, but hundreds of workouts can. One healthy meal won't change your health, but thousands of good choices can.
Hard Doesn't Mean Bad
We often try to avoid anything that feels difficult.
But some of the best things in life require effort.
Learning something new is hard. Building a business is hard. Raising children is hard. Developing your career is hard. Getting stronger is hard.
The fact that something is difficult doesn't mean you shouldn't do it.
Sometimes the difficulty is exactly what makes the result worthwhile.
Feeling Good Feels Good
There is something incredibly rewarding about knowing you've worked for something.
When you finish a workout you didn't want to do, there's a feeling of achievement. When you lift a weight that used to feel impossible, you feel proud. When your clothes fit better, your energy improves and you start feeling more confident, you know that the effort was worth it.
That feeling is addictive in the best possible way.
You start to realise that the hard work isn't something you're being punished with. It's something you're doing for yourself.
You Don't Have to Be Perfect
Choosing your hard doesn't mean you have to make the "perfect" decision every time.
You're allowed to have lazy days. You're allowed to eat the pizza. You're allowed to miss a workout because life gets in the way.
The goal is simply to make more choices that move you towards the person you want to become.
Over time, those choices add up.
What Hard Do You Want?
You can't completely remove difficulty from your life.
There will always be something that requires effort.
So perhaps the better question isn't, "How can I make my life easier?"
Maybe it's:
"Which hard is going to give me the life I want?"
You can choose the hard of training consistently, or you can choose the hard of losing your fitness.
You can choose the hard of looking after your nutrition, or you can choose the hard of being unhappy with your health.
You can choose the hard of making time for yourself, or you can choose the hard of wishing you'd started sooner.
Both paths require something from you.
Choose the one that gives you something back.
At CrossFit Shenley, we don't expect you to love every workout or find everything easy. We simply want to help you choose the hard that makes you stronger, healthier and happier.
Because when you put the work in and start feeling the benefits, you'll realise something:
Feeling good feels good.
